Human World
Carr is divided into two main sections, the northern nations, consisting of the imperial states of Rodan, Idris, and Mael; and the southern nations of Llyr, Orond, Ingia, and the province of Hakan. The continent is about the size of the continental United States. The north tends to be quite a bit colder than the more temperate south.
The empire is ruled by a single man with lords presiding over every province but Rodan, which is ruled by the emperor himself. Although many emperors have been needlessly cruel, the rulers as of late have become rather passive due to the lack of war. But some of the old strict laws are still enforced with equal harshness.
The other three nations are ruled by monarchs as well. Llyr has had a very long line of what most consider the best kings in Carr. However, the current king has no children or siblings and is gaining in years. Some worry a succession war may begin at his death. Orond is governed by a king beloved by his people for holding every value they hold dear. That is, the love of a good time, the love of violence for entertainment's purpose, and a very good military. That army is the only standing one left in all of Carr. Ingia is said to be ruled by a monarch, but for the last few hundred years, the wandering tribes have listened to no one but their chiefs. Skirmishes sometimes break out between the different nomadic tribes, and the ruler is powerless to stop them, for they may end up turning on him or her. Ingia is the only country that has ever had a female ruler, though others have probably been controlled behind-the-scenes by some before.
