Alana dipped her feet into the cool water, watching the ripples spread across the surface of the lake. Out a few yards, a fish jumped, adding its own ripples to the surface. The lake was deep. Even where she was sitting, it was nothing but a straight drop a few hundred feet to the bottom. No one else seemed to be in the area. The water was free of boats, fishermen, everyone. That was understandable since the nearest village was nearly ten miles away, at least a day’s walk.
She pushed some hair behind her ears and smiled. It was nice out here. No guards to worry about. No one wondering what a girl her age was doing wandering the world. Nothing to run from. She lay back on the grass, wondering how long she could stay like this before hunger forced her to resume her walk into the next settlement. Maybe a few days. There were still a few loaves of bread in her bag. Left without anything else to do, she watched the clouds.

Garnet silently stalked through the grass, a deer right within her sight. Dinner will soon come, just as she prepared to load her gun, she noticed a someone near the deer. After a few seconds she noticed it was just behind her dinner! Well the musket wasn't most accurate thing, the ball might just get stuck in the deer's neck. Taking the chance, she began to load her musket.
The match rope had recently been replace, so now its back to being five feet long, its been hard not to trip over it. She took out her salt peter and dipped the end of the rope into it. From there she added a little fine powder into the panel and quickly closed it with a soft snap. She stood over he musket, adding only a little bit more powder into it. Taking a rod, she gently placed it out on top of the firing hole, putting the little lead ball on top. From there, she took her rammer and quickly pushed it down into the little tunnel. After loading her gun, she placed the end onto the lock, took aim and fired! The deer fell over from the force and so has Garnet. The sound of the musket still rang in her ear. However her catch made her rush over!
"Dinner! Dinner! Dinner!" she said jumping up and running over to her catch. She did notice that the ball had narrowly missed the person, but who cared?!?! She had her dinner!

Something loud, very loud, rang though the air. Alana sat up with a start, her ears ringing and her heart beating as if it was trying to jump out of her chest. She slowly calmed her breathing, gripped her weapon, which she had summoned simply out of habit, and turned around. A deer lay dead behind her. Blood seeped from what looked like a bullet wound on the neck. Farther behind her, someone celebrated by screaming.
Alana sighed and released the last of her tension, letting the dagger fade away as well. There was apparently no danger, not unless the person decided to try to shoot again, which wasn’t out of the question. She stood up and brushed the dirt and dried grass off her pants; she also noticed an addition of a few splatter of deer blood. “Umm,” she called out to the shooter. “You did notice you almost hit me?” The shooter had better give her some of that deer.

Garnet took a few minutes to finally reach the deer. Upon her arrival she broke into tears of happiness. She hadn't ate a decent meal for two days now! All she been eating were bits of berries, she was sure that aren't deadly. Other then that, she had been starving.
"Bless the lord!" Garnet hollered bending over to her prized food. Then she noticed the woman and remembered what she said about almost hitting her. She was hoping that she didn't notice the fact, but it is pretty hard to not notice.
"I'll share, but you got to do the cutting," Garnet replied happily. If this person were to try to take her deer, then prepare to get aimed at with her musket.

Alana raised her eyebrows. This was… odd. But at least this girl wasn’t going to shoot at her again, or didn’t appear to want to anyway. “Uh, sure.” She bent down to the girl’s level. “Well, I need a knife to cut it, but there is one thing I’d like to know first. What’s someone like you doing out here? I don’t mean any offense, but you seem pretty young.” Young she was, plus that was quite a big gun for someone her size. The thought had passed her mind that she might be the daughter of a guard, so she shouldn’t be summoning her own knife. Alana was glad that she would be able to eat meat for a change though.

"Hunting of course!" Garnet replied, still celebrating about her turn of a luck. The questions she asked were no different then the others that were to curious for their own good. Hopefully she wasn't one of those bandits, one of them tried to steal her musket and ended up in jail! A superior look flashed out on her face, at the thought of beating up that mean man!
"Well since you asked, what a person at your age, doing out here alone?" She said looking straight at the woman. She was young to, and it was just a taste of her own medicine!

Alana couldn’t help but smirk. This girl obviously thought she was bigger than she really was, with her arrogant look and her returning of her own question. It was sort of funny, though she could shoot a gun so it wouldn’t be a great idea to make her mad. “I’m… well I suppose I’m a bit of a wanderer.” She turned toward the lake. “I don’t like cities so I stay out in places like this when I can help it. Is that a good enough answer for you?” She faced the girl again. “So what should I call you? What’s your name?” They were, after all, going to be together at least until this deer was carved, so she needed something to refer to her by.

"Garnet Enyo, what about you?" Garnet asked poking at her catch. Apparently she might have to stay with this girl, until the deer was done. Then an idea popped into her head, this woman could really help her out in society. If she could convince this woman to let her follow along, then most of the questioning from people would stop!
"Hey can I stick with you?" "I can help with hunting, but I need someone older so people would stop looking at me weird."

“Garnet Enro.” Alana nodded. It didn’t seem like the girl was lying, but did it really matter if she gave an alias? Alana had taken to using fake names more often recently just to avoid being tracked, but this girl almost seemed like she was running from something as well, so it probably wouldn’t hurt to give anything away. “Alana Marin.”
She stared at the deer again, wondering if Garnet was ever going to give her the knife she asked for and if there was even any decent firewood around here to cook the animal. “Stick with me?” she repeated, not taking her eyes off the deer. “Well…” She hadn’t traveled with anyone since Niall, and she knew that if that girl got hurt or killed like her old friend, she would never forgive herself. The girl had a point though. It might stop some of the odd looks if they were a pair, but it could also draw even more attention. “Garnet, I don’t think you really want to travel with me. There are… some people looking for me, and I wouldn’t want you to get hurt for my sake. I’m sorry.”

"There are already people after me, so it doesn't really matter," Garnet replied. She took hold of the deer's neck and began to drag it towards the direction of her camp. As she tried to pull at it, the deer only moved about an inch. This won't do, at an inch a pull, its going to take at best hours. There was also getting the fire going, finding her knife, and finally a good place to hide. She should have picked a smaller deer, but all the babies were around adults.
"Are you going to help me?" Garnet looked over at Alana curiously.
